A signal average EKG is a recording of the electrical activity of your heart. Multiple heartbeats are computer-averaged and enlarged to help your physician detect tiny electrical signals. Preparation
No special preparation is required.

The Procedure
The procedure will take about 15 minutes. Your chest will be shaved in small areas, if necessary, and cleaned with a liquid abrasive and alcohol. Electrodes will be attached to your chest to record your heartbeat. The technician will ask you to lie still during the recording. You will feel only the electrodes during the procedure and they will be removed when the procedure is complete. If you have questions, please ask your physician or the cardiovascular technician who will be with you throughout the procedure. Your physician will discuss the results with you. Your primary care physician will be notified of the results.

Following the Procedure
You may resume your normal activities after the procedure unless otherwise notified.
