Dr. Roberto A. Corpus

Roberto A. Corpus, M.D., graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1992 with degrees in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. In 1996, he graduated from the University of Louisville School of medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas; a fellowship in Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI; and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Medicine at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, MO. He also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri’s Kansas City School of Medicine. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the field of diabetic cardiovascular disease, percutaneous coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction, as well as peripheral vascular disease management.

Dr. Corpus specializes in all aspects of interventional cardiovascular medicine with particular interest in the endovascular treatment of peripheral vascular disease. He is the primary investigator of numerous interventional trials including the SAPPHIRE carotid stent study.

Dr. Corpus is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases with added qualifications in the field of interventional cardiology, as well as the American Board of Vascular Medicine. He is also a member of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, the International Society of Endovascular Specialists, and the American College of Cardiology where he serves a delegate for the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr Corpus began practicing at Munson Medical Center in 2004 and at Otsego Memorial Hospital in 2005.

Dr. Mark S. Smith

Mark S. Smith, MD, FACC, is a 1977 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed is Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as fellowships in Cardiology, Clinical Pharmacology, and Clinical Electrophysiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Smith is Board Certified by the American board of Internal Medicine in both Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine, with a Certificate of Special Qualifications in Cardiovascular Disease. He is also a member of the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, with an examination of special competency in Cardiac Pacing.

Dr. Smith began practicing at Munson Medical Center in 1989, and has privileges at Alpena General Hospital. He is a member of Great Lakes Cardiology, PC.

Dr. Anthony Ochoa

Dr. Anthony Ochoa is originally from northern California (Redding), and received his undergraduate degree (B.A. Biology) with honors from the University of Denver. He is a graduate of the Armed Forces’ medical school, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS, 1995), and completed his Internal Medicine resident training at the Wright Patterson Medical Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He served as a Staff Internist at Wright-Patterson Air Force base from 1998-2000 before going on to complete the Cardiology Fellowship training program at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal, MI, where he served as the Chief Cardiology Fellow. After returning to the Air Force he served as the Chief of Cardiology for the Wright-Patterson Air Force base from 2004-2008, and received an honorable discharge after a total of 14 years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force. While serving in the Air Force he was an Assistant Professor of Medicine for the Wright State School of Medicine and for his alma mater, USUHS. He has received numerous citations and has had several publications in Cardiology peer-reviewed journals.

John C. Drow

John C. Drow RT, RDCS, FASE is the chief Diagnostic Ultrasonographer of the ICAEL (Intersocietal commission for the accreditation of echocardiography laboratories) accreditated Diagnostic Ultrasound laboratory. John is board certified in Radiologic Technology with the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and board certified in Cardiac Ultrasound with the ARDMS (American registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers). John has received the Fellow designation (FASE) of the American Society of Echocardiographers, which recognizes extraordinary commitment to the field of echocardiographu and achievement of credentials that demonstrate fulfillment of training and performance requirements. John received his cardiology training at the Arizona Heart Institute and Foundation and has 17 years of experience in Cardiology, 15 with Great Lakes Cardiology.

John is certified in BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) as well as ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

John holds the title of chief compliance officer (COO) and is responsible for leading corporate compliance efforts, designing and implementing internal controls, policies and procedures to assure compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations and third party guidelines; managing audits and investigations into regulatory and compliance issues; and responding to requests for information from regulatory bodies.

David Ingraham B.S. CNMT, RT(N) is the chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist of the ICANL (Intersocietal commission for the accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories) accreditated Nuclear Medicine laboratory. Dave is board certified in Nuclear medicine with the CMNT (Certification of Nuclear Medicine Technologists).He is also a registered nuclear technologist with the ARRT (American registry of Radiologic Technologists. Dave has 22yrs experience in Nuclear Medicine, 4yrs with Great lakes Cardiology. Dave is a certified BCLS instructor and is also ACLS (advanced Cardiac Life Support).Dave Is a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. This society provides the standards for nuclear exams and quality of patient care.

Amy Collins

Amy Collins, FNP, is certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through Northern Michigan University in 1998. She worked as a cardiac nurse at Sparrow Hospital – Lansing, MI; Mecosta County General Hospital – Big Rapids, MI; and Munson Medical Center – Traverse City, MI from 1998 to 2005. Most of her experience was in cardiac critical care.

She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Grand Valley State University in 2004. She has worked for Great Lakes Cardiology since 2005.

Lynsey Martin

Lynsey is originally from Vassar, MI. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree (2003) and worked as an Exercise Physiologist administering cardiac stress tests and cardiac rehab. Lynsey went back to CMU to obtain her Masters and became a Physician Assistant in 2006. She has a Michigan PA license and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. In addition, she is a member of the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Lynsey is also an alumni representative for the physician assistant program at CMU. She joined the practice in August 2008, and has previous experience which includes working in cardiothoracic surgery and interventional radiology.

Shona Bedgood

Shona, a native of Grand Rapids, attended Grand Valley State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. Her desire to serve her community led her to the Physician Assistant profession and she earned a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 2006. In the same year, she became certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the State of Michigan to practice medicine under the supervision of a physician.

Shona joined Great Lakes Cardiology in 2007. She sees patients in the hospital and the office, supervises stress tests and co-administers the practice’s anticoagulation clinic. Shona is a certified Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider. She is a fellow member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA).
